INTRODUCTION


Faculty Of Transportation Engineering (Ften)

The history of the Faculty of Transportation Engineering can be traced back to the establishment of Department of Port, waterway and Coastal Engineering which was founded in 1997 when Ho Chi Minh city University of Transport was the Division of Vietnam Maritime University.  After nearly 25 years of development, the quality and quantity of the staff have been continuously growing to a total number of 49 lecturers including 01 Associate Professor, 21 doctors, 07 Ph.D candidates, and 20 masters. Our missions are to provide high quality work force, research and consulting services in the field of transportation engineering.

At undergraduate level, The Faculty is training five programmes including: Road and Bridge Engineering, Bridge and Tunnel Engineering, Highway Engineering, Metro-Railway Engineering, Transport Planning and Design Engineering with about 1,500 students. For post-graduate level, there are more than 100 master students and 03 Ph.D candidates. In the last 24 years, the Faculty has trained more than 6000 students. According to the survey results from the Student Affairs Department, the employment rate of graduates is over 90% every year.

At the Faculty, scientific research is considered as a strategic focus. The lecturers and students in the faculty are always supported, in term of funding and facilities, to carry out research projects. Those research projects were funded by the Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Science and Technology, cities and the university and conducted in collaboration with international universities, policy makers and industry partners. The results from the those research projects have contributed to the teaching activities and led to publications in prestigious journals and conferences.

In 2021, the Transportation Engineering programme was selected by the University as the first unit to imitate the Self – Assessment and Training for accreditation according to AUN-QA standards (ASEAN University Network – Quality Assurance). Currently, the Transportation Engineering has completed the Self-Assessment Report (SAR) and has been completing other documents and procedures for external assessment.

The Faculty’s vision is to become a leading center in research, training and technology transfer in transportation engineering in Vietnam and Southeast Asia .
