HO CHI MINH CITY UNIVERSITY OF TRANSPORT’S ACHIEVEMENTS

  1. Overview

Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport (UT-HCMC) is a multidisciplinary university for education in transport sectors in Southern region, Vietnam. The University is currently training over 15,000 students and trainees with 31 different majors on transport, including: navigation, roads, railways, urban transport, mechanics, automated electric transport, transport operation, project management, logistics management, etc. at undergraduate and doctoral programs. The University has 14 faculties, institutes and departments; 26 functional departments, institutes and centers for training, fostering and providing other scientific and technical services. With the goal of training human resources for multimodal transport networks connecting urban transport with regions, regions and worldwide synchronously and smoothly, Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport has collaborated closely with organizations and enterprises in the fields of navigation, transport, logistics, oil and gas, domestic and international telecommunications networks. Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport was established on May 18, 1988 and has achieved many remarkable achievements so far. The University has been playing an important role in training high-quality human resources for transport sector and industrialization and modernization of Vietnam with majors related to navigation, roads, railways, mechanics, electricity, automation, information technology, economics, etc. at undergraduate, master’s and doctoral levels. After more than 30 years of establishment and development, the University has been training thousands of engineers and bachelors working in a variety of fields across the country’s economy. According to statistics, in the first year after graduation, 80% of graduates have the suitable jobs that are relevant to the majors that they studied in the University.

In the trend of globalization, international cooperation is the key to open the road of integration in training, scientific research, investment attraction, technology transfer, and competitiveness enhancement. To keep pace with this trend, the University has actively expanded with international organizations and universities. The University has promoted mutually beneficial cooperative relations with government and non-governmental organizations such as the British Council, Nuffic-Neso (Netherlands), DAAD (Germany), Eramus +, World Bank, etc. The University has promoted activities of exchanging lecturers and students with institutes, universities in the region and around the world through English teaching program and welcoming international lecturers and students. In addition, the University has actively created research collaborations in key industries such as navigation, logistics, transport, construction engineering, electricity – electronics and telecommunications, …

In order to enhance lecturers’ performance and reinforce the University’s considerable prestige, Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport has constantly focused on scientific research activities and has achieved several scientific research achievements over the years. Many scientific research subjects at all levels have been successfully conducted, and the University’s officials, lecturers and students have been won numerous domestic and international science and technology awards. The scientific information is concentrated, and an increasing number of quality articles conducted by officials and lecturers have been published in recognized domestic and international journals such as SCI, Scopus, SCIE, ISI.

The scientific research activities among students have also gained lots of encouraging achievements. The “Creative ideas of UT-HCMC’s students” contest has gradually become an annually traditional competition and attracted numerous wonderful and excellent inventions and ideas.  In addition, UT-HCMC’s students have also achieved a lot of awards in several competitions such as the ASEAN Skills Competition, the Eureka of Ho Chi Minh City, the Vifotec at the State level, and the National Olympic contests.

The university has been undergone external assessment and recognized quality standards according to MOET’s Institutional Quality Accreditation Standards. The University is also completing the self-assessment report and the sources of evidence for accreditation and external assessment of two training programs according to MOET’s Quality Standards and a training program according to ASEAN University Network – Quality Assurance (AUN-QA).

The University is proud of training many generations of students who have excelled in both their abilities and behavior. The University’s students are energetic, strong, liberal, sociable, and they are always striving for their goals and ideals. The University’s students not only actively study and do scientific research, but they also participate enthusiastically in social activities such as Green summer, Giving strength to examination season, Humanitarian blood donation; group activities, contests, seminars, cultural exchanges with international students.

UT-HCMC was honorably received the Third Class Independence Medal in 2013

The Faculty of Information Technology’s students team won high prizes at Vietnam’s Students Olympiad in Information Technology in 2015

The Faculty of Information Technology’s students team participated in the Excellent Skills Competition for Transport sector in 2015 and won the first prize

UT-HCMC’s students team awarded outstanding results in the international competitions, helping Vietnam rank third on the 12th ASEAN Skills Competition in 2018 in Thailand

UT-HCMC’s students team won the second prize on the Skills Competition for Transport sector in 2019

 

 

Le Thanh Duong (class: KM15, Faculty of Information Technology) achieved the excellent certificate of the 45th World Skills Competition held at the KAZAN EXPO
