Logistics management and multimodal transport

Faculty of Transport Economics is one of the earliest established faculties at HCMC University of Transport. The forerunner of the faculty is the Faculty of Economics – Maritime Transport Operation, established in 1988, with the function of training undergraduate and postgraduate staff to do management, business and waterway transportation operations which includes ocean and river transport, traffic construction management, logistics management and multimodal transport.

Currently, the Faculty of Transport Economics has 05 majors: Ocean Transport Economics, Logistics Management and Multimodal Transport, Construction Economics, Project Management, and Financial Economics.

At the undergraduate level, the Faculty of Transport Economics has 05 specialities, which are Logistics Management and Multimodal Transport, Ocean Transport Economics,, Transport Business and Management, Construction Economics and Project Management; one graduate specility which is Transport Organization and Management, one doctoral speciality is Transport Organization and Management.

In recent years, the staff of managers and lecturers of the Faculty of Transport Economics has continuously increased in both quality and quantity. Up to now, the Faculty of Transport Economics, University of Transport, Ho Chi Minh City, has 47 lecturers, 01 secretary of the faculty, including 02 Associate Professors, 09 lecturers with doctoral degrees, and other lecturers who all have master degree.

Logistics Management and Multimodal Transport is one of the 05 specialities at the Faculty of Economics and Technology. This is a field that has been attracting the attention of a large number of parents and students across the country because of the increasing job demand of the labor market. For many years, Logistics Management and Multimodal Transport has been the speciality with the highest entry standards of Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport. With a staff of highly qualified and experienced lecturers in teaching, suitable facilities for the development of modern, advanced science and technology, the speciality promises to be an ideal destination to study. study and research issues related to the field of Logistics Management and multimodal transport.

In addition to focusing on training, the Faculty of Transport Economics as well as the Logistics Management and Multimodal Transport Management speciality also pays great attention to scientific research. The unit has organized and participated in many domestic and international seminars to learn and exchange knowledge related to specialized fields. Staff and students of the faculty all have scientific research topics at all levels, research works have been published in conferences, seminars and domestic and foreign journals related to their majors. In the 2020 school year, the lecturers of the Logistics Department have completed 02 ministerial-level projects on “Research on building a model of a Logistics center connected to a multimodal transport network (applicable to the Southeast region). ” and “Research on solutions to reduce logistics costs in Vietnam”; 01 school-level project on “Supply chain solutions to develop the value chain of Vietnamese agricultural products in the world market”.

 

Students majoring in Logistics Management and Multimodal Transport also always achieve high results at the Vietnam Logistics Young Talent Contest (in 2018 the students won the Southern Regional Semi-Final Championship and the Global Final Runner-up Award). In 2019, They won the first prize in the Southern region and the national “Impressive team” award; won the Southern Regional Semi-Final Championship and the National Final Champion in 2020. In addition, students also achieved many high achievements in competitions such as: Logisticom, Startup ideas, SCMission, Honda Yes, Logistics Arena, G-Logistics, CEL (data analysis), Green Supply chains, etc. ..

With the achievements in training and research activities, the Logistics and Multimodal Transport Management specialty was selected by the Faculty and the university to participate in the self-assessment and curriculum assuarance according to Organization for standards of the Ministry of Education and Training. The self-assessment report has now been completed, and the documents and procedures are being finalized for external assessment.
